When Robert Knight set out to launch HOCKEYAK, a brand inspired by his 12-year-old son’s creativity, he knew he needed to make a bold first impression. HOCKEYAK embodies perseverance, style, and fun, and the goal was to take this vision nationwide by wrapping a van that would turn heads as it traveled to hockey tournaments across the country. To bring this vision to life, Robert turned to Brand Ink, trusting the team’s expertise to create a design that would make the HOCKEYAK van an unforgettable part of their brand story.
HOCKEYAK needed the van to stand out—not just in appearance, but as a moving billboard that would amplify their message coast to coast. Initially, Robert explored working with another wrap company due to a slightly lower quote. However, after a friendly suggestion from Brand Ink’s CEO, Nick, to confirm warranty coverage with the competitor, Robert discovered their work wasn’t backed. That transparency and honesty brought him back to Brand Ink; from there, the collaboration took off.
Robert came to Brand Ink with an existing design concept. The team worked closely with him to refine the design, making subtle adjustments to gradients and preparing photo-realistic mockups to ensure the final product was perfect. Key to the process was achieving the exact “YAK TAN” color—a signature shade for the brand. Brand Ink sent a color proof to Robert for approval, ensuring the wrap’s colors would stand out on the road.
From the moment Robert saw the completed wrap, he was thrilled. The matte finish gave the van a sleek, unique look that set it apart from the typical gloss wraps seen on the road. The bold, detailed design captured the spirit of HOCKEYAK, leaving no doubt it would make an impression at every stop on their tour. The van’s debut wasn’t just a milestone for the brand—it was a moment of pride for Robert and his son, Jackson, the original mind behind HOCKEYAK.
The HOCKEYAK van has since become an integral part of the brand’s cross-country journey. It serves not only as a mobile advertisement but also as a pop-up shop, where hockey fans can purchase branded bags and t-shirts directly from the vehicle. This unique feature turns the van into a key player in HOCKEYAK’s mission to bring their brand to fans everywhere, creating a memorable and interactive experience for their growing community.
